Small Group Tours of Mexico, Worth Getting on a Plane For

Mexico rewards travelers who go beyond the resort strip — colonial cities, ancient pyramids, mountain villages and two coastlines. But planning it yourself means juggling long drives, hotel logistics and language barriers. A small group tour hands all of that to a professional English-speaking guide, so your only job is to enjoy the country.

Every tour on this page is operated by Europamundo, a JTB Group company with 380+ guides, its own fleet of 85 coaches and direct operations in 250+ cities. Each itinerary has guaranteed departures, year-round — no waiting for a minimum group to fill.

Hotels, daily breakfast, coach transport, basic travel insurance and your arrival transfer are always included. Prices start from $533USD per person, and a 20% deposit holds your spot.

Best short escapes: 4 to 7 days

Only have a long weekend or a single week? These compact itineraries prove you don't need two weeks off to see the real Mexico. Base yourself around Mexico City's pyramids and palaces, dip into Michoacán's highlands or ring the Yucatán's Mayan ruins from Cancún — all with a guide handling every logistic.

Best classic itineraries: 8 to 11 days

The sweet spot for most travelers. Eight to eleven days is enough to pair Mexico City with the colonial heartland — Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Morelia, Oaxaca — without ever feeling rushed. These are the itineraries we recommend first when someone asks us where to start.

Best grand tours: 12+ days

For the trip of a lifetime, go long. These grand itineraries sweep from the capital through Chiapas jungles and Oaxacan valleys to the Caribbean coast — some crossing the entire country from the Pacific to Cancún. One booking, one guide, up to twenty days of Mexico.

Best for beach + culture

Why choose between pyramids and the Pacific? These routes weave Acapulco, Zihuatanejo or Cancún into a full cultural circuit, so you finish your colonial cities and archaeological sites with sand between your toes.

What makes these tours different

Most escorted tours lock you into a fixed loop. Every itinerary here comes with three flexibility options you can request when you book — at no booking fee. Weighing these against adventure operators like Intrepid? See how the travel styles compare.

Small group tour questions, answered

How big are the groups on these tours?

These are escorted small-group coach tours operated by Europamundo, a JTB Group company with 380+ professional guides and 85 custom-designed coaches. You travel with a dedicated English-speaking guide from start to finish, and group size varies by departure — never more than one coach.

What's included in the tour price?

Every tour includes your hotels, daily breakfast, an English-speaking guide, coach transport between cities, basic travel insurance and your arrival airport transfer. International flights and the final hotel-to-airport transfer are not included.

How does the 20% deposit work?

When you book, your card is authorized for a 20% deposit — nothing is charged yet. We place your booking with the tour operator, and only when it's confirmed (usually within 48 hours) is the deposit actually charged. The balance is due before departure.

Are departures really guaranteed?

Yes. Every one of the 29 itineraries has regular departures, year-round — and each one is guaranteed to run. Pick any date that works for you.

Can I pay in US or Canadian dollars?

Both. Prices are listed in USD, and you can switch the site to CAD at any time — Canadian travelers see CAD pricing automatically at checkout. Whichever currency you choose, the same 20% deposit rules apply.

Are flights and tips included?

International flights to and from Mexico are not included, so you're free to use points, pick your favorite airline or add extra nights. Tipping your guide and driver is customary in Mexico but always at your discretion.
