Day-by-day itinerary

1Mexico City

Welcome to Mexico! An included transfer delivers you to your hotel, and the rest of the day is free to relax or explore.

2Mexico City — Teotihuacan — Mexico City

The day opens at the Plaza of the Three Cultures before continuing to the spectacular pyramids of Teotihuacan. A stop at a local artisan center precedes the return to the city, where you visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Back at the hotel, enjoy free time for the rest of the day.

3Mexico City — Puebla

After a free morning and lunch, a transfer takes you to the bus station for a regular coach to Puebla, with a hotel transfer on arrival. The free afternoon invites you to explore this charming city: its impressive cathedral, the historic Palafoxiana Library, the famous candy street, and the antiques-filled Callejón de los Sapos.

4Puebla — Ex Hacienda Chautla — Val Quirico — Puebla

An included excursion visits the Ex Hacienda de Chautla, celebrated for its English-style castle rising from an artificial lake ringed by forest. You then explore Val Quirico, a village of artisan shops and cozy cafés, before returning to Puebla with free time and an overnight stay.

5Puebla — Cholula — Cheese Route — Atlixco — Puebla

Today's included excursion explores Cholula, taking in San Francisco Acatepec, Santa María Tonantzintla, the San Gabriel Convent, the Royal Chapel, Soria Park, and the Sanctuary of La Virgin of Los Remedios. Continue to Chipilo, a town renowned for its cheese-making, and then to Atlixco to visit its historic center. Return to Puebla with free time to enjoy the city.

6Puebla — Monte Albán — Oaxaca

Travel toward Oaxaca, arriving in the late morning to visit Monte Albán, the greatest of the Zapotec cities perched above the Oaxaca Valley, with admission and a guided tour included. Afterwards, return to Oaxaca with free time to explore this captivating city of Aztec roots.

7Oaxaca — San Pablo Villa de Mitla — Tuxtla Gutiérrez

Journey through mountain scenery and charming villages to the Pueblo Mágico of San Pablo Villa de Mitla. After crossing the Oaxacan sierras, enjoy an included lunch before arriving in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, capital of Chiapas.

8Tuxtla — Sumidero Canyon — Chiapa del Corzo — Zinacantan — San Juan de Chamula — San Cristóbal de las Casas

A boat trip carries you through the dramatic depths of the Sumidero Canyon, followed by a walk through Chiapa del Corzo. Later, visit Zinacantan and San Juan de Chamula, towns steeped in living Mayan tradition. Arrive in the beautiful colonial city of San Cristóbal de las Casas with free time.

9San Cristóbal — Ocosingo — Agua Azul — Misol Ha — Palenque

Ride through the mountainous heart of Chiapas, traditionally home to Mayan communities, stopping in Ocosingo along the way. Entry to Agua Azul National Park is included, along with lunch, before a walk among the waterfalls of Misol Ha. Continue to Palenque, where dinner is included.

10Palenque — Campeche

Explore the extraordinary archaeological site of the Mayan city of Palenque. You then travel through the state of Tabasco toward the Gulf of Mexico, arriving in Campeche, a port city famed for its colonial buildings and mighty fortifications. Dinner is included.

11Campeche — Mérida

Enter the state of Yucatán and arrive in Mérida, its capital, rich in both colonial and Mayan heritage. The afternoon is free to discover the city at your own pace, and in the evening an included transfer takes you to the Zócalo to explore and enjoy dinner. Overnight in Mérida.

12Mérida — Izamal — Chichen Itzá — Río Lagartos

Venturing into the Yucatán, the first stop is the golden 'magical town' of Izamal. You then visit Chichen Itzá, the most important surviving monument of the Mayan civilization, with a typical Mayan lunch included. The day ends at the fishing village and Biosphere Reserve of Río Lagartos.

13Río Lagartos — Valladolid — Cenote Choj Ha — Cancún

A morning boat trip immerses you in the mangroves and birdlife of Río Lagartos. Continue to Valladolid to enjoy its pleasant historic center, then visit the Choj Ha cenote in the afternoon, with its jungle setting, dry cave, and the interior lake of a humid cave. Arrive in Cancun at day's end.

14Cancún

After breakfast, the tour and its services come to an end.
