Welcome to Mexico! Upon landing you are transferred to your hotel, with free time to begin discovering the capital.
Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Mexico City followed by a transfer to the Basilica of Guadalupe. In the afternoon, float along the canals of Xochimilco aboard a colorful, flower-adorned trajinera boat. An evening transfer to the lively Plaza de Garibaldi with dinner included rounds out the day.
The route east includes a stop at the Ex-Hacienda de Chautla, whose English-style castle rises from an artificial lake framed by forest. You then continue to the delightful town of Cholula before arriving in Puebla, a historic city prized for its culinary traditions and colonial architecture. Overnight in this vibrant city.
Arrive in Oaxaca in the late morning and head up to Monte Albán, the grandest of the Zapotec cities commanding views over the Oaxaca Valley, with admission and guided tour included. Return to Oaxaca afterwards with free time to explore this fascinating Aztec-rooted city.
Traveling through mountain landscapes and charming villages, you reach the Pueblo Mágico of San Pablo Villa de Mitla. After crossing the Oaxacan sierras, enjoy an included lunch before arriving in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, the capital of Chiapas.
Navigate the dramatic Sumidero Canyon by boat, then take a walking tour through Chiapa del Corzo. Later, visit the villages of Zinacantan and San Juan de Chamula, where a strong Mayan cultural tradition endures. Arrive in the beautiful colonial city of San Cristobal de las Casas with free time.
Travel through the mountainous interior of Chiapas, a region of traditional Mayan communities, with a stop in Ocosingo along the way. Entry to Agua Azul National Park is included, along with lunch, before a walk among the waterfalls of Misol Ha. You then continue to Palenque, where dinner is included.
Explore the extraordinary archaeological site of the Mayan city of Palenque. Afterwards, you cross the state of Tabasco toward the Gulf of Mexico, arriving in Campeche, a port city renowned for its colonial buildings and massive fortifications. Dinner is included.
Enter the state of Yucatán and arrive in Mérida, the capital celebrated for its rich blend of colonial and Mayan heritage. The afternoon is free to discover the city at your own pace, and in the evening an included transfer takes you to the Zócalo, where you can explore and enjoy dinner. Overnight in Mérida.
After a little more time to soak up Mérida, a transfer brings you to the airport for the included regular flight back to Mexico City. Arrival marks the end of this leg of your journey.
Breakfast at the hotel brings our services to a close. Please note that the transfer from the hotel to the airport is not included.
International flights and the final hotel-to-airport transfer are not included. Flight Mérida-Mexico City (regular flight) included on day 10. Route map also shows Rio Lagartos and Cancun, but the printed 11-day itinerary ends with Mérida-Mexico City.
