Day-by-day itinerary

1Mexico City

Welcome to Mexico! An included transfer takes you from the airport to your hotel, and the rest of the day is yours to relax or wander the capital.

2Mexico City — Teotihuacan — Mexico City

Begin at the Plaza of the Three Cultures before heading to the awe-inspiring archaeological site of Teotihuacan. A stop at a local artisan center follows, then it's back toward the city to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. After returning to the hotel, the remainder of the day is free.

3Mexico City — Tepoztlan — Cuernavaca — Taxco

Set off for Tepoztlan, a town nestled beside a great green hill crowned by a small pyramid, with time to explore. In Cuernavaca, your guide shares the story of the Hernán Cortes Palace and the cathedral, and you'll have free time for lunch. The day continues to the silver town of Taxco for a city visit and your overnight stay.

4Taxco — Chilpancingo — Acapulco

Cross the mountains to Chilpancingo de los Bravos, where your guide leads a visit to the Regional Museum. Continue to Acapulco with time on a popular local beach, where you can enjoy lunch at leisure. In the afternoon, admission and a guided tour of La Fortaleza (the San Diego Fortress) are included, followed by a transfer to your hotel and free time.

5Acapulco — Zihuatanejo

Follow the Pacific coastline to the charming resort town of Zihuatanejo. An included boat ride carries you to Playa Las Gatas, where you can swim, relax on the sand, and have lunch. You'll return by boat to Zihuatanejo for accommodation and free time.

6Zihuatanejo — Janitzio — Pátzcuaro

Crossing arid landscapes, you'll enter the lush green mountains of Michoacán. At Lake Pátzcuaro, a boat carries you to Janitzio Island, home of the Purépecha community, where you'll have time for lunch, a stroll through its traditional streets, and — if you wish — a climb up the imposing statue of José María Morelos. Return by boat and end the day in Pátzcuaro.

7Pátzcuaro — Morelia — Cuitzeo — Mexico City

Depart for Morelia and its magnificent historic center, where highlights include the Cathedral and Plaza de Armas, with time to explore and enjoy lunch. Continue to Cuitzeo del Porvenir to visit the Ex-Convent of Santa María Magdalena and wander its cobblestone streets and historic buildings. Arrival in Mexico City comes in the late afternoon.
