Departing Cancún, we travel toward the capital of the state of Yucatán. On arrival in Mérida we tour this city steeped in colonial and Mayan heritage, followed by free time in the afternoon. In the evening, an included transfer takes you to the spectacular 'Sacred Stones' sound and light show.
Today is devoted to the treasures of Yucatán, beginning in the 'magical town' of Izamal. We then explore Chichen Itza, the most important remaining vestige of the Mayan civilization, and sit down to an included traditional Mayan lunch. Afterward we travel to Río Lagartos, a fishing village and protected Biosphere Reserve.
A morning boat excursion glides through the mangroves, offering close encounters with the reserve's abundant birdlife. We then head to Valladolid with its pleasant historic center, and in the afternoon visit the Choj Ha cenote, where jungle surroundings give way to a dry cave and the shimmering interior lake of a humid cave. We arrive in Cancún at day's end.
After breakfast, our services conclude, leaving you free to continue your Caribbean holiday or head home.
International flights and the final hotel-to-airport transfer are not included. Shortest tour in this page range; no arrival transfer listed among inclusions (unlike the longer tours).
