A Bit of All Mexico

Welcome to Mexico! You'll be transferred from the airport to your hotel, and the remainder of the day is free to unwind.

Begin with the Plaza of the Three Cultures before continuing to the mighty archaeological complex of Teotihuacan. A visit to a local artisan center follows, and back in the city you'll enter the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Once at the hotel, the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Depart for Tepoztlan, set beneath a great green hill topped by a small pyramid, with time to explore. Continue to Cuernavaca to learn about the Hernán Cortes Palace and its cathedral, with free time for lunch. The day finishes with a city visit and overnight in hillside Taxco.

Wind through the mountains to Chilpancingo de los Bravos, where your guide accompanies you into the Regional Museum. In Acapulco, enjoy time on the famous beach with the chance for a swim. The afternoon includes admission and a tour of La Fortaleza before a transfer to the hotel and free time.

Continue up the Pacific coast to the delightful resort town of Zihuatanejo. An included boat ride ferries you to Playa Las Gatas, where you can swim, relax, and have lunch before the return trip by boat. Check in and enjoy free time.

After crossing dry desert country you'll enter Michoacán's lush green highlands. At Lake Pátzcuaro, a boat carries you to Janitzio Island, home of the Purépecha people, with time for lunch, a wander through its traditional lanes, and an optional climb to the colossal statue of José María Morelos. Return by boat and close the day in Pátzcuaro.

Set off for Morelia, the graceful capital of Michoacán, then stop at Cuitzeo del Porvenir on Mexico's second-largest lake. Your route concludes in Guadalajara, the Jalisco capital and birthplace of Mariachi music and Tequila.

Discover Guadalajara, including the UNESCO-recognized Cabañas Hospice, before continuing to the town of Tequila for a stroll and lunch. Entrance to a working distillery is included, revealing the secrets behind Mexico's signature drink, followed by a return to Guadalajara with free time.

Arrive in Guanajuato, and in the afternoon enjoy a city tour of this beautiful World Heritage university city with its steep slopes, narrow streets, and churches. The tour includes a cable car ride up to the 'el Pípila' viewpoint for a sweeping panorama.

Travel through the mountains to Dolores Hidalgo, the birthplace of Mexican independence. Visits follow at the Sanctuary of Atotonilco and in San Miguel de Allende, a superb UNESCO World Heritage city, before you arrive in lively colonial Querétaro in the afternoon.

Depart for Tula, the ancient Toltec capital, where you'll tour the archaeological site with admission included. Afterwards, continue to Puebla, a historic city celebrated for colonial architecture and its energetic zocalo.

Arrive in Oaxaca in the late morning and head up to Monte Albán, the grandest Zapotec city crowning the hills above the Oaxaca Valley, with admission and a guided tour included. Return to Oaxaca with free time to explore this compelling city of Aztec roots.

Journey through mountains and picturesque villages to the Pueblo Mágico of San Pablo Villa de Mitla. After threading through the Oaxacan sierras, an included lunch precedes your arrival in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, the capital of Chiapas.

Glide by boat between the immense cliffs of the Sumidero Canyon, then take a walk through Chiapa del Corzo. Continue to Zinacantan and San Juan de Chamula, villages steeped in living Mayan tradition, before arriving in the lovely colonial city of San Cristobal de las Casas with free time.

From San Cristóbal, explore the Grutas del Mamut caves and the scenic El Arcotete Tourist Park. The day continues at Rancho Nuevo Ecotourism Park, tucked into a peaceful conifer forest offering horseback riding and beautiful hiking trails. Return to San Cristóbal with free time to explore at your own pace.

Today's excursion visits Moxviquil, a learning community devoted to sustainability, with activities such as birdwatching and hiking. You'll also step into the Maya Medicine Museum before returning to the hotel, leaving the rest of the afternoon free.

A transfer brings you to Tuxtla Gutiérrez Airport for the most convenient onward flight (not included) to Mexico City, marking the end of services.
